Constipation can be very unpleasant and accompanied by discomfort, bloating, flatulence and even pain. MICROLAX® relieves constipation in the rectum with hard stools in just 5-20 minutes, providing fast and predictable relief – whether at home or while traveling.
Constipation is a widespread condition – approximately 13% of the population suffers from it from time to time – and affects all age groups from babies to the elderly. In babies, for example, the transition from breast milk to formula or the transition to puree and solid food can encourage constipation. In small children, digestion often gets disrupted if the day is different from usual, for example when traveling and especially when transitioning to the potty. Constipation is also not uncommon during pregnancy and is often caused by the production of pregnancy hormones, increasing abdominal girth and the frequently prescribed iron supplements. Constipation occurs more frequently with increasing age because the metabolism changes and digestion slows down. Hormonal fluctuations, for example during menopause, can also contribute to constipation. To prevent constipation in general, one should pay attention to a healthy lifestyle with a high-fiber diet, sufficient fluids, sufficient exercise and as little stress as possible.
MICROLAX® is inserted into the rectum and acts locally, directly on the hardened stool. A mini enema is usually sufficient to soften the stool and thus completely empty the rectum without the risk of further uncontrolled bowel movements.
Unlike oral medications, MICROLAX® does not have to pass through the entire gastrointestinal tract and can therefore work more quickly. Due to its local mode of action, MICROLAX® is very well tolerated and can also be used on newborns, small children, pregnant women, and during breastfeeding.
Recommended use:
The recommended dose is:
• 1 mini-enema for adults and children as needed,
• half a mini-enema for infants and small children under 3 years of age.
One dosage unit (1 mini-enema or half a mini-enema) is usually sufficient. Microlax is a single-use enema for use in the rectum (rectal application). It should be used 5 to 20 minutes before the desired effect. If only a portion of the enema contents is used, discard the remaining rectal solution. In infants and small children under 3 years of age, the tube neck may only be inserted halfway (marked on the tube neck).
